Bothidae - Flounder

All of the flounders in this family are left eye flounders. This means the adult fish lays on its right side with its eyes on its left side. This fish is born with its eyes on the left and right like conventional fish. Then the right eye migrates to the left side. The two Panther Flounders were photographed around Mamutik Island off of Kota Kinabalu, Borneo Malaysia. The Peacock Flounders were photographed in the Cayman Islands and the Turks & Caicos Islands.
