Opistognathidae - Jawfish

These small fish gather in colonies and inhabit areas of sand and coral rubble near reefs. Individuals excavate burrows in the sand by mouth, one fish per burrow. They hover above holes and, if frightened, retreat tail first. The males of this species incubate the eggs of thier young in thier mouths.
